Wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase was shutdown in the Bengals' win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 1, recording two receptions for 12 yards. He was a force against the Texans, earning seven receptions for 75 yards and two touchdowns.
Per Ari Meirov and The Athletic, the league fined Chase and Higgins a combined $89,556 for celebrations in Week 2. Higgins, who led the Bengals with seven receptions for 95 yards, was fined for four celebrations. Chase was fined for two celebrations.
The league also fined Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown four celebrations in the team's loss to the Buffalo Bills on "Thursday Night Football" in Week 2. Per the , San Francisco 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk was fined $14,926. The league suggested his celebration was the imitation of someone chugging a beer. After the league's crackdown for Week 2, there may be fewer celebrations in Week 3.
