The 2026 NFL trade deadline is just four days away and Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor remains one of the hottest commodities. With the Colts currently riding a four-game losing streak, sitting at 2-6 entering Week 9 and having already traded DeForest Buckner and Quenton Nelson, there's little doubt that Indianapolis is in sell mode ahead of the Nov. 10 deadline. Senior NFL reporter Albert Breer gave an update on the Taylor sweepstakes Friday morning, revealing what the Colts are looking for in return for a possible trade.
Breer also named one specific team as a "serious suitor" for the three-time Pro Bowler. "My understanding is a first-round pick, or the equivalent in a Christian McCaffrey–level package (the 49ers sent 2023 second-, third- and fourth-round picks, and a 2024 fifth-rounder to the Panthers for McCaffrey in October 2023) would likely get it done, and the Colts haven’t gotten that price," the Sports Illustrated scribe wrote. "The Giants, Broncos and Vikings have inquired, and discussed it, and it appears Denver and Minnesota might be a little less inclined to trade for Taylor now.
Conversely, the indication I’ve gotten is that while the Giants aren’t offering what Indy wants, they are a serious suitor." For now, Taylor is still with Indianapolis, though Sunday's contest against the Dallas Cowboys could be his swan song with the organization that selected him in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Colts head coach Shane Steichen said on Wednesday that Taylor will play in Week 9 versus the Cowboys. The 27-year-old Wisconsin product has recorded 610 rushing yards and eight touchdowns on 148 carries this season while adding 21 receptions for 202 receiving yards.
