The Minnesota Vikings had a linebacker run into a referee on Sunday. The NFL investigated the play and the response.

The NFL will be looking into a play where a league official wound up hitting the dirt during a Week 4 game between the Minnesota Vikings and Miami Dolphins on Sunday. The Vikings defense has been ferocious to start the season, and they didn't disappoint on Sunday, keeping the Dolphins to just one touchdown and a field goal in a 15-10 win as Minnesota improved to 4-0. Vikings linebacker Eric Wilson had tunnel vision as he tried to get past a blocker while pursuing Miami quarterback Malik Willis.

Wilson was pushed into NFL referee Adrian Hill as the play was being blown dead. The linebacker walked over to try and help Hill up, but Hill rejected the offer, got up, and started yelling at Wilson. "The NFL also said it is reviewing this play, at least the second today involving an interaction between a player and an official," Schefter posted on X. The NFL is also investigating an official who hurled obscenities at Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride. Sunday was a dramatic day between league teams and officials.

New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel was flagged for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty after yelling that the official made an "(expletive) terrible call" during the game. In the case of Hill and Wilson, it appears the Vikings defender did not mean to toss the referee to the turf. It remains to be seen if the league appreciates the way Hill responded to the matter.

Clearly, the league saw enough from the replay to decide to "review" the play. Wilson finished the game with four total tackles, the third most for the Vikings on Sunday. Minnesota will next travel to play the New Orleans Saints in Week 5.
