North Korea fires off missile hours after Trump says he plans to meet Kim

Pyongyang launched at least one apparent ballistic missile on Thursday, just hours after U.S. President Donald Trump claimed he would meet North Korean leader Kim Jong Un later this year. The South Korean military also said it had detected the launch toward the Sea of Japan, which Seoul calls the East Sea.

The Defense Ministry in Tokyo said the missile is believed to have splashed down in waters outside Japan’s exclusive economic zone.
