Now they've added another young depth piece to the rotation to help Nikola Jokic chase one more ring in Denver. On Friday, ESPN's Shams Charania reported that the Nuggets have signed 6-foot-6 forward Cam Whitmore, a former first-round pick (No. 20 overall) in 2023 out of Villanova, on a two-way deal.
Whitmore spent his first two seasons with the Houston Rockets before getting traded to the Washington Wizards ahead of the 2025-26 season. Whitmore played a vital bench role in both Houston and Washington. He averaged 12.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, 0.7 assists, and 0.6 steals in just 18.7 minutes per game as a rookie, shooting 45% from the field and 36% from long range.
The following season, his numbers dipped slightly before he was ultimately phased out of the rotation in Houston and eventually joined the Wizards, where he again made the most of limited opportunities. Whitmore may not be a flashy name, but he's still an explosive, high-energy, score-first wing who should complement what Denver has going. He should slot in nicely in the second unit alongside DeRozan, Spencer Jones, and Tyus Jones.
