Coming off arguably the biggest week of his life, Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss has plenty of reason to celebrate. Chambliss led the No. 4 Ole Miss Rebels to a 32-24 revenge win over his former coach Lane Kiffin and the No. 10 LSU Tigers in a game everyone in Mississippi had circled since the beginning of this year. Despite head coach Pete Golding saying it was “just another game,” some say it’s the biggest win in school history since the Rebels’ last national championship in 1962.
Not only did Chambliss get revenge on his former coach, he also earned a pretty big honor in the process. It marks the second time in his career that Chambliss has won the conference Player of the Week award. Against LSU, the senior QB completed 33 of 48 passes for 363 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception, and he added a rushing touchdown.
In addition to his SEC award, Chambliss is also now the frontrunner for the Heisman Trophy with +290 odds on FanDuel and +300 odds on DraftKings. Chambliss currently leads the SEC and is sixth in the NCAA passing yards per game (308), and his 25.7 completions per game is also tops in the conference as well. He also ranks ninth in the country in passing yards (924), and is eighth in completion percentage (70) among QBs with 100 or more pass attempts.
In addition to Chambliss’ SEC Offensive Player of the Week award, Golding was named Bear Bryant National Coach of the Week.
