Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs is facing possible NFL punishment stemming from an alleged off-field incident with a woman back in May. Jacobs was placed on the NFL's commissioner exempt list on Sunday as the league continues to review his case. Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst made his first public comments on the matter during a press conference on Tuesday.

When asked if Jacobs will take the field at all this season, the Green Bay executive had this to say: "I think that's to be seen. I'm certainly hopeful that he will. I certainly would expect that, but we're going to let this process play out and we'll be prepared either way." Gutekunst later went on to discuss the Packers' running back depth behind Jacobs, featuring MarShawn Lloyd, Chris Brooks and Kaleb Johnson.

Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said Jacobs will be present at team facilities through his time on the commissioner exempt list. Green Bay will begin its 2026 season with a Week 1 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings on Sept. 13.
