The New England Patriots are set to play the Chicago Bears on Thursday night for their Week 7 matchup. This is an important matchup for the Patriots, as they are aiming to catch up to the Buffalo Bills in the AFC East standings. However, New England has now announced some unfortunate news regarding one of their key players.
The Patriots shared hours before Thursday's game against the Bears that they have placed guard Alijah Vera-Tucker on injured reserve. With this news, Vera-Tucker will miss a minimum of four games for the Patriots. With Vera-Tucker being a starter for the Patriots, there is no question that him being placed on injured reserve is tough news for New England.
Now, the Patriots will be forced to adjust without him being available. Vera-Tucker started in each of the Patriots' first six games this season before this injured reserve placement. New England signed him to a three-year, $42 million contract this offseason in free agency.
This was after he missed all of last season for the New York Jets after suffering a torn triceps before Week 1 of last season. It will now be interesting to see how the Patriots respond to Vera-Tucker being out of the lineup from here.
