The federal tax incentive is one of the rare initiatives that is supported by both Democratic and Republican politicians and in Hollywood. Trump dubbed the proposed legislation the Motion Picture, Television, and Entertainment Revitalization Act.

Charles Rivkin, head of the Motion Picture Association, offered his support after Trump’s statement, and the DGA has also been urging the studios to lobby for legislation.
