Rams Announce Major Aaron Donald Decision Ahead of Eagles Showdown

The Los Angeles Rams revealed that Aaron Donald won't play in a Week 4 NFC matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Aaron Donald comeback tour won't make a stop in Philadelphia. Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay ruled out Donald for Sunday's game against the Eagles. Tight end Terrance Ferguson and cornerback Jaylen Watson will also miss the Week 4 matchup at Lincoln Financial Field.

A back injury will sideline Donald, who hasn't practiced this week. McVay told reporters Wednesday that the 35-year-old was feeling "a little sore." Donald ended two years of retirement to rejoin the Rams less than two weeks before their season opener. He didn't travel with the team to Australia for their Week 1 contest against the San Francisco 49ers but has played the last two games.

Returning on "Monday Night Football," Donald recorded three tackles (one for a loss) in 33 snaps during a 28-6 win over the New York Giants. The three-time Defensive Player of the Year notched a tackle and a quarterback hit in last Sunday night's 30-26 loss to the Denver Broncos. Donald faces his first roadblock back in the NFL.

Meanwhile, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts can exhale knowing he'll avoid the 10-time Pro Bowler and Myles Garrett, who remains out with a knee injury. The disappointing Donald news poses a major test for a Rams defense that has surrendered the NFL's third-fewest yards (272.7 per game) after the Seattle Seahawks and New York Jets. Yet they struggled without Donald in Melbourne, allowing 5.9 yards per play in a 27-7 loss.

A high-powered offense could at least receive a massive boost. McVay expects star wide receiver Puka Nacua to play after missing the last two games with a hip injury. Sunday's road game starts at 1 p.m.
