Los Angeles Rams star Myles Garrett will be sidelined for at least the next four weeks after being placed on injured reserve with a knee injury that requires surgery. The reigning Defensive Player of the Year was limited by the issue during training camp and admitted following Thursday's defeat to the San Francisco 49ers in Melbourne that it had proven more restrictive than first thought. The Ringer's Tom Pelissero was first to report the news on Sunday as the Rams prepare for an extended period without their marquee addition.
Garrett was traded to the Rams by the Cleveland Browns in the blockbuster deal of the NFL offseason, fresh from breaking the all-time single-season sack record in 2025. Donald was absent in Melbourne in Week One as he works his way back into full football shape.
Garrett is due to miss games against the New York Giants, Denver Broncos, Philadelphia Eagles and Buffalo Bills over the next four weeks. The earliest Garrett would be eligible to return is against the Arizona Cardinals in Week Six. His introduction in Los Angeles had seen Sean McVay's side, already led by MVP quarterback Matthew Stafford, enter the season widely considered as Super Bowl favourites.
