Rita Wilson is teasing plans to reprise her “Girls” role as Marnie Michael’s eccentric mother in Lena Dunham’s much-anticipated revival. When asked by People if she’ll be returning for the new iteration of the hit show, Wilson told the publication, “That is what I’m hearing, so I don’t think Lena would be lying about that.” The actress went on to say that she is “so excited” about the series return. I mean, Lena is one of the most talented people I’ve ever worked with.

I would do anything for her,” she continued. And then I love Allison Williams who, you know, I was lucky enough to play her mom.” She added: “I know Lena’s gotta be cooking up something very good.” Earlier this month, it was announced that HBO had greenlit a revival of “Girls,” the dramedy created by Dunham. The series will return for a limited, five-episode run with production beginning in 2027 — a decade after the Season 6 finale.

With Dunham as creator, showrunner and star, the original series ran from 2012 to 2017 and followed a group of friends through the misery and dysfunction of their 20s in New York City. All four core cast members are returning for the revival: Dunham as Hannah Horvath, Allison Williams as Marnie Michaels, Jemima Kirke as Jessa Johansson and Zosia Mamet as Shoshanna Shapiro. Additionally, Andrew Rannells reprises the role of Elijah Krantz.

Judd Apatow returns as executive producer on behalf of Apatow Productions alongside Dunham, Ilene S. Cohen of Dunham’s Good Thing Going banner. Williams, Kirke, Mamet and Rannells serve as co-executive producers.
