The New York Giants are 3-1 to open up the 2026 NFL season, winning each of the last two games after losing starting quarterback Jaxson Dart to what is likely a season-ending knee injury. Veteran backup Jameis Winston has stepped up as the Giants' QB1, notching wins in back-to-back starts against the Tennessee Titans and Arizona Cardinals. His play hasn't been perfect, but its been enough to have New York poised at the top of the NFC East.
McCarthy in a trade with the Minnesota Vikings last week, bringing in competition for Winston at the quarterback position. However, all-time great tight end Rob Gronkowski believes it should be Winston's job for the remainder of the year. "Is Jameis Winston the answer for the Giants this year?
He's 2-0 right now as a starter," Gronkowski said. "I'm so happy for Jameis to see what he's doing over there in the last two weeks. 2-0. He's going to be their starter, hopefully, for the rest of the year.
He just brings so much excitement to the game." The Giants will look to continue their positive momentum into Sunday's Week 5 matchup against the division-rival Washington Commanders.
