One of the best times of the year is here, as the NFL regular season kicks off next Wednesday with a game between the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots in a Super Bowl rematch. With the NFL season just about here, many are naturally making predictions about what could transpire. Patriots legend Rob Gronkowski recently joined in the fun, as he made a prediction about who will be this year's NFL MVP.
During a recent appearance on the Up & Adams Podcast, Gronkowski predicted that Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson will be this year's NFL MVP. "That is my MVP pick this year," Gronkowski said about Jackson. "I'm already getting ahead of the game.
Lamar Jackson is going to have a breakout season once again, even though he has breakout seasons every year. But last year, he even just admitted that he was hurt throughout much of the season. He's going to amp it up a lot, and he's going to be at full speed, and that offense is going to be clicking." Gronkowski expressing such confidence in Jackson is not too difficult to understand.
When playing at his best, Jackson is an extremely impactful quarterback, and this is evidenced by him being NFL MVP twice already in his career. Because of this, it would not be too shocking if he ended up proving Gronkowski's prediction right this season. At a minimum, Jackson should be able to put together a bounce-back season for Baltimore now that he is healthier.
In 13 games last season for the Ravens, he threw 21 touchdowns, seven interceptions, and 2,549 yards.
