In 2023, Roger Waters fired his son, Harry Waters, from his touring band. Now, the elder Waters is making it up to his son by helping him find the frontman for his new Pink Floyd tribute band. Waters wrote that Harry “has put a great band and show together” called Legacy, scheduled to hit the road in 2027.
Legacy will pay tribute to Pink Floyd’s “golden era” and songs from Waters’ solo career. Are you that missing voice? If you are, this is your chance.
This is an open invitation to audition for Harry’s band. I’m serious.” On his own Instagram, Harry wrote, “We’re looking for a singer who can sound like Dad did when he was young. Are you that person?” In November 2023, Harry spoke to Rolling Stone about his 14-year tenure in his father’s band, in which he played organ and keyboards.
I’m not sure of his exact reasoning, but everyone except two people [keyboardist Jon Carin and guitarist Dave Kilminster] got fired. But the other guys that got the sack weren’t his son, so it was doubly hurtful for me.” After his exit, Harry played with Les Claypool and Sean Lennon, followed by shows with Pink Floyd cover band Brit Floyd. He’s currently accepting applications for the Legacy gig on his website, with a deadline of April 30.
