American comedian Ruby Wax has cancelled a series of live shows citing "circumstances outside of my control". The 73-year-old confirmed her scheduled An Evening With Ruby Wax tour stops in Sheffield, Durham, Edinburgh and Kidderminster will no longer go ahead. Releasing a statement on Instagram on Tuesday, Wax expressed she was "incredibly sorry" and stated: "We’ve done everything we can behind the scenes to try and find a way forward, but sadly this is no longer possible.
"I know this will be hugely disappointing for those of you who have booked tickets, particularly if you’ve already made plans around the shows, and I’m truly sorry. "I had been very much looking forward to seeing you, and I’m disappointed that we won’t get to share these evenings together." Wax reassured fans that dates on her Absolutely Famous tour remain unaffected, noting she is "really looking forward to getting back out on the road". "Thank you for your understanding, patience and the support you continue to show me.
"I really hope to see many of you at an ‘Absolutely Famous’ show soon." Anyone holding tickets for the cancelled performances can get in touch with their ticket provider or promoter X Fire Live regarding refunds. The star previously featured as a contestant on ITV’s 2025 reality series I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!. Wax once famed for her high-profile presenting work, interviewing figures such as OJ Simpson and Donald Trump on her BBC show, When Ruby Wax Met… in the Nineties.
Earlier this year, she spoke to The Sunday Times about her UK tour which was first suggested to her by Louis Theroux. Wax admitted she once resented the younger Theroux when he first rose to attention as an on-the-ground BBC presenter in the late Nineties and early Noughties, but she quickly changed her opinion of him when they met in person. I really felt he’d stolen my career.
