The Philadelphia Eagles took the field for their second straight day of joint practice with the New England Patriots on Thursday. Like many joint practices around the league, this one featured several altercations between the opposing teams. One of these altercations featured Philadelphia running back Saquon Barkley, who reportedly had to be held back after taking a hit.
After the conclusion of Thursday's session, Barkley said he "hates" joint practices, according to reporter Henry McKenna of Fox Sports. He added that "one day is good," not the back-to-back joint practice days that the Eagles and Patriots just endured before Saturday's preseason matchup. Barkley is entering his ninth NFL season and third with the Eagles.
The talented ball carrier put together a historic rushing performance in 2024, rushing for 2,005 yards through 16 regular-season games en route to the Eagles' Super Bowl title. Last year, his production dropped significantly — recording 1,140 yards and seven touchdowns. Barkley will look to return to form under new offensive coordinator Sean Mannion this coming season.
The Eagles will kickoff their regular-season schedule with a Week 1 matchup against the Washington Commanders on Sept. 13.
