Late Ramsey equaliser earns point for Newcastle against Bournemouth Lukas Hornicek: A little unfortunate for the second goal in particular after the ball came back off the upright and bounced off him. One or two moments of miscommunication at the back. 5 Amar Dedic: Made an impressive start to his Newcastle career, and carries a real threat going forward, but caught out defensively for both goals. Did swing in the ball for the equaliser, though. 4 Malick Thiaw: Stand-in captain in Dan Burn's absence once again, but could only watch on as he put through the net after his block on Alex Scott's cross looped into the bottom corner. 5 Sven Botman: A poor clearance before Marcus Tavernier's opener but went on to make a couple of crucial interventions to deny Evanilson. 5 Lewis Hall: Substituted at half-time in the corresponding fixture back in April but coped better with Rayan this time. 6 Nico Gonzalez: Struggled to have the same effect as his impressive debut against Tottenham Hotspur.
Missed a tackle on Tavernier before Bournemouth's second goal and only partially blocked Scott's effort in the build-up to the visitors' first. 5 Lewis Miley: So much potential, and still so young at 20, but struggled to get a handle on Bournemouth's midfield. Passing not to usual standard. 5 Anthony Elanga: Quickly frustrated with refereeing decisions going against him. Got little change from Adrien Truffert. 5 Joe Willock: Couldn't fault his effort as he chased down Bournemouth players and attempted to make blocks.
Came close to equalising with a header. 5 Harvey Barnes: Stepped up when Newcastle were on very shaky ground with a stunning goal from the hosts' first shot on target. Often frustrated by failure, but always capable of a big moment. 7 Yoane Wissa: Looks better in the number 10 role in this system than up top. Repeatedly dropped deep to get involved.
Showed determination to dig out a cross for a big Willock chance. 5 Matias Fernandez-Pardo (on 63, Willock): Got a huge welcome on his debut. Quickly won a free-kick and worked hard to win the ball back. 6 Jacob Ramsey: Popped up with a precious equaliser to secure a point with a well-taken finish. 7 Subs not used: Nick Pope, Fabian Schar, Aladji Bamba, Bazoumana Toure Djordje Petrovic: Little he could do for Barnes' goal, but otherwise a relatively comfortable afternoon. 6 Adam Smith: Played a role in Tavernier's opener by nudging the ball to Scott in the build-up. Tested on one or two moments defensively, but still showing his value at 35. 6 James Hill: Solid.
Has already become a very important player for manager Marco Rose. 6 Antonio Silva: Took a nasty blow to the head from Elanga's shoulder, but the summer signing shook it off. 6 Adrien Truffert: Coped expertly with the in-form Elanga and caused Dedic real problems going the other way. 7 Tyler Adams: First competitive start under Rose. Could have got closer to Barnes for Newcastle's goal, but hard to see him coming out of the side after this display. 7 Alex Scott: So influential. Played a key role in both of his side's goals.
