The Seattle Seahawks appeared to have a player trending to make his return against the Kansas City Chiefs on "Sunday Night Football" in Week 7. The return will have to wait for a later week. Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Seahawks ruled out running back Zach Charbonnet for their contest on Sunday night.
With former Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III set to return to Seattle with the visiting Chiefs, the return of Charbonnet would have made for a more intriguing contest, especially with rookie first-round pick Jadarian Price still on injured reserve with a chest issue. Charbonnet is pushing to return as soon as possible, but the Seahawks could not make it work for Sunday night.
"It's remarkable," Macdonald said, via the Seahawks website. "I know he's had a certain date in mind, which is a really ambitious date. Those who have tried to come back from a significant knee surgery understand the undertaking that it takes.
"It's not easy to say, 'All right, let's go.' So for him to have that courage to say that and work through the things he's worked through, you can't do anything but tip your cap to him." While Charbonnet will not play on Sunday night, he could make his return when the Seahawks host the Chicago Bears for "Monday Night Football" in Week 8. Amid injury issues for their top two running backs, the Seahawks are averaging 3.9 yards per rush through their first six games. Emanuel Wilson is the leading rusher for Seattle.
He has 303 yards and two touchdowns on 87 carries. For more on the Seahawks and the NFL, head to Newsweek Sports.
