Sean Payton Unlikely to Make Big Change Broncos Fans Are Demanding

Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton is unlikely to make the one big change fans are already clamoring for.

Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton doesn't intend on returning to call plays. The Broncos very well could have looked in that direction after they scored just one touchdown in Monday's blowout loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, but the expectation is they'll continue to leave play calling duties to new offensive coordinator Davis Webb. NFL Media's Ian Rapoport thinks so, anyway...

"Davis Webb is a really good young coach and Sean Payton did this for a really good reason.. Sean Payton is a great evaluator of coaches and he knows what he has in Davis Webb," Rapoport said on "The Pat McAfee Show" on Tuesday. Payton, who called plays during his 15-year tenure with the New Orleans Saints and his first three seasons in Denver, gave them up prior to the start of the season and doesn't want to make any rash decisions despite an ugly outing from the man he gave them up too.

"Obviously, not a good evening. Didn't do a lot well at all in the game," Payton said on Monday. "We'll get a chance to look at the tape tomorrow, but I felt like all the key factors … they rushed the ball well, we didn't.

That starts with our coaching staff. I thought they won in really every phase. Our third-down numbers weren't good.

Our rushing numbers weren't good. Pick your spot." Denver could always reconsider things if the offense continues to sputter, but for now, it'll remain tied to the decision that was made before the start of the season.
