After a decade of neglect, when Konami announced in 2022 that it was embarking on a revival of “Silent Hill,” its seminal psychological horror series, the news was greeted with cautious optimism. The previous two main entries (2008’s “Homecoming” and 2012’s “Downpour”) had flopped, and the unceremonious cancellation of the widely anticipated Hideo Kojima-led reboot in 2014 had left a bad taste in fans’ mouths. Then, in 2024, the revival kicked off with the release of a critically acclaimed remake of 2001’s “Silent Hill 2” (the consensus pinnacle of the series).
Momentum kept building the next year with the well-received spin-off “Silent Hill f,” which took place in a rural Japanese locale — the first time the series told a story in its country of origin.
