Skrillex has stayed active this year, releasing a surprise album called SOMA, playing Bonnaroo, and getting announced for next year's Primavera Sound lineup. On Sunday (Oct. 11), the DJ did a set at Head Trip — the one-time-only EDM festival in Indio, California, hosted by the organizers of Coachella — and it didn't go so well. On Tuesday (Oct. 13), Skrillex took to social media to apologize: "My deepest apologies for my set and sound at head trip.
I was having a nightmare myself up there and hate how bad that was for everyone in the crowd. No excuses , will take the L and make a lesson of it." A Reddit user who attended the festival explained that there were "a lot of technical issues" making the sound "really distorted and muddy." "He also came on late, presumably because they were trying to get whatever issues they had taken care of, he spoke on the mic much less with significantly lower energy than usual, and his mixing style was less dense (more two and three drop playouts) than usual," the user wrote. Since then, Skrillex has shared a remix of Danny L Harle and Pinkpantheress' "Starlight" with Dutch producer duo ring noord.
"This track is the culmination of so many B2Bs and sessions," Harle wrote on Instagram, "but mainly Sonny's incredible ability to blend harmony with drums that simply BANGARANG in your face." Listen below.
