While Ezra Bridger was a major part of Ahsoka season 1, he didn't actually appear that much until the season's end. Ahead of the Disney Plus show's second season, the unknown adventures of Ezra will finally be revealed in a new Star Wars story coming next year. Ezra won't be alone, however, as iconic antagonist Grand Admiral Thrawn is also back for more.
As part of its New York Comic Con announcements, Marvel Comics revealed the five-issue limited series Star Wars: Ahsoka — Escape from Thrawn. Dave Filoni, creator of the TV series and president and chief creative officer of Lucasfilm, is providing the story, which will be written by Rodney Barnes with art by Andrea Di Vito. Here's the official synopsis of the book: Witness the unseen story of Ezra Bridger's daring flight from Peridea!
Ezra narrowly escaped his exile beyond the known galaxy by stowing away aboard Grand Admiral Thrawn's flagship, but his fight to return home is far from over! Hunted across hyperspace with nowhere to hide, the rebel hero must now evade Captain Enoch, counter the dark magick of the Nightsisters, and outwit the Empire's greatest strategist if he hopes to make it off the Chimaera alive. Based on a story by series creator Dave Filoni, this unseen chapter from Ahsoka is a thrilling companion to the upcoming second season of the hit Disney+ series!
The first issue of Star Wars: Ahsoka — Escape from Thrawn will be released on Jan. 20, 2027, to coincide with the premiere of Ahsoka season 2. More information is set to be shared during the Lucasfilm Publishing: Stories from a Galaxy Far, Far Away panel at New York Comic Con, which is being held on Oct. 9 at 11 a.m. After a brief delay earlier this year, Ahsoka season 2 is now scheduled to be released at the beginning of next year.
Picking up on season 1's cliffhanger, Ahsoka and Sabine will still be stranded on the planet Peridea while being pursued by Shin. Season 1 was largely spent trying to get to the original homeworld of the Nightsisters and now that the gang has reached Peridea, it will be interesting to see where the story goes from here. Ezra and Thrawn will be back in the main galaxy, butting heads once again as the latter attempts to attack the New Republic.
Rosario Dawson is set to return as Ahsoka alongside Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine, Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera, Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger, and Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn. It has also been confirmed that Hayden Christensen will once again portray Anakin Skywalker.
