All-time great NFL pass rusher Aaron Donald is returning to the NFL as a member of the already-stacked Los Angeles Rams, signing a one-year, $20 million deal with his former franchise on Sunday. The Rams were already considered the leading favorite to compete for a Super Bowl title. And now with Donald back on the roster, their odds are taking another jump in the right direction.
This signing also brings added expectations. During Monday morning's episode of "First Take" on ESPN, Stephen A. Smith said it's Super Bowl or bust for the Rams.
"The only possible excuse for the Rams not making the Super Bowl is health," Smith said. "Injuries, obviously, this is the world of the NFL. That could derail everything. ...
If they're healthy, there's no reason the Los Angeles Rams shouldn't be walking away with the Super Bowl championship." In addition to Donald, the Rams also have the reigning NFL MVP and the reigning Defensive Player of the Year in Matthew Stafford and Myles Garrett. Los Angeles will kickoff its regular-season schedule with a Week 1 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers on Sept. 10.
