Taylor Swift‘s “The Life of a Showgirl” returned to the No. 1 spot on the 200 album chart after last vacating that position in January, thanks to the release of an expanded edition titled “The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore” with four new bonus tracks. This resumption at the top marks the 13th week the album has spent at No. 1, a lucky number Swift was surely looking to achieve all these months later. The deluxe edition collected 173,000 equivalent units in its first week — or in the 52nd week for all versions of the album, depending on how you’re looking at it.
Most of that was from streaming consumption of the four new tracks, since Swift has not put any physical copies of the expanded set up for sale yet, so sales have been limited to a digital download. Album sales accounted for 21,000 of the overall 173,000 total, with most of the rest coming from streaming, with SEA units adding up to 136,000 — that number representing 138.79 million on-demand official streams — according to and Luminate. Swift’s new single, “Patient Zero,” is also expected to bow at No. 1 on the singles chart, Billboard’s Hot 100, but that chart’s top 10 won’t be released till Monday.
The race to see who would come out on top among the week’s two other top 10 album bows was a squeaker, separated by a few hundred units. Tinashe’s “Popstar” enters at No. 6 with 35,500 equivalent album units. Kenny Chesney’s “Silver Sands Marina” is right behind it at No. 7 with 35,000.
Chesney’s numbers for his new album ride the success of his “Carry On” single, which just became his record-extending 34th No. 1 song at country radio this past week. At that time, it was enjoying its 12th (and, at that point, seemingly final?) non-consecutive week on top of the 200, having prevailed from its October 2025 release through much of the Christmas buying season. Even before it added a 13th week with this return, “Showgirl” already had her second-highest number of weeks at No. 1.
Her record for that is held by “The Tortured Poets Department,” which spent 17 weeks atop the chart. Consumption for the expanded “Showgirl” was aided not just by the four new tracks but the release of a high-profile music video for “Patient Zero,” costarring Dakota Johnson and Colin Farrell, which premiered on the MTV Video Music Awards last Sunday night. Last week’s No. 1, Miley’s “Bass Persuades,” drops out of the top 10 this week.
How far out of the top 10 was not revealed, as and Luminate only release the chart’s top 10 each Sunday and issue the rest of the top 200 albums in the days to follow. Rounding out the top 10 albums are Olivia Rodrigo’s “You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl in Love” at No. 2 (with 67,000 units), followed by long-players from Ella Langley at No. 3, Morgan Wallen at No. 4, Noah Kahan at No. 5 and Olivia Dean at No. 8. An earlier Kahan album, “Stick Season,” is at No. 9 and marks him as the only artist at present with two records in this upper echelon, while Drake closes out the top 10.
