The Houston Texans had to go against Joey Porter Jr. just days after the Dallas Cowboys traded with the Pittsburgh Steelers for the cornerback. Porter played 24 snaps and gave up zero receptions against the Texans offense. Not bad work after playing on a Sunday following a trade on Wednesday night.
The Texans made a trade of their own on Sunday, landing Marvin Harrison Jr. from the Arizona Cardinals. Per DJ Bien-Aime of ESPN, Houston expects Harrison to play against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London on Sunday, though he may receive limited snaps not unlike what the Cowboys did with Porter in Week 4. Stroud will have an opportunity to re-create their fireworks from their college stint at Ohio State in 2021-22. Don't expect Harrison to play most of the offensive snaps, but there will be packages for him." At the very least, Harrison can be a decoy that allows star receiver Nico Collins to get open. Harrison has had a quiet start to the season, catching five passes for 85 yards and a touchdown before the trade.
Having his former Ohio State teammate, quarterback C.J. Stroud, will help Harrison quickly acclimate to the Texans. Earlier this week, Stroud said he's not worried about Harrison fitting into the offense.
"He has to learn it and he's a really smart kid. He's somebody who I'm not worried about," Stroud said, via Texans Wire. "At the end of the day it's football.
You run some very similar routes, just different ways. I'm very vocal on how I like things done. We've had a conversations, we'll continue to just get on the same page, but a lot of the things are similar from where he's coming from.
