The Minnesota Timberwolves agree to sign G League standout Norchad Omier to a two-way contract following an impressive season.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are making another roster move, adding a productive young forward who has already spent time with the organization. Minnesota has agreed to a two-way contract with Norchad Omier, according to NBA insider Michael Scotto of HoopsHype. The 25-year-old forward is coming off an impressive season in the NBA G League, where he averaged 18.3 points, 11.4 rebounds and 2.5 assists while shooting 59.2% from the field.

Omier appeared in 38 G League games last season, splitting time between the Cleveland Charge and San Diego Clippers. His performances earned him a spot on the G League All-Rookie Team, and he finished third in voting for the league's Rookie of the Year award. The signing marks a return to Minnesota for Omier, who spent training camp with the Timberwolves before being waived ahead of the regular season.

He appeared in six preseason games, averaging 1.8 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists. Although his preseason production was limited, Omier's rebounding ability and efficiency around the basket offer Minnesota another option in its frontcourt. The former Baylor standout went undrafted in the 2025 NBA Draft before beginning his professional career in the G League.

He eventually earned a two-way contract with the Los Angeles Clippers, appearing in six NBA games during the 2025-26 season. Omier also made history as the first Nicaragua-born player to appear in an NBA game. To create room for the signing, Minnesota is expected to waive forward Enrique Freeman, who is dealing with an injury that could sideline him for several weeks.

Freeman averaged 16.5 points, 8.7 rebounds and 2.4 assists with the Iowa Wolves last season. The decision gives Minnesota an opportunity to evaluate Omier further while providing the young forward another chance to establish himself at the NBA level.
