Trevon Diggs Speaks Out on Goals With Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks signed cornerback Trevon Diggs with hopes that the former Pro Bowler can resurrect his career.

Cornerback Trevon Diggs signed a one-year deal with the Seattle Seahawks this week, giving him an opportunity to resurrect what had been a promising NFL career by becoming a role player instead of a star. Diggs, who turns 28 next month, was released by the Dallas Cowboys late last year, then played in only a couple of games for the Green Bay Packers before he was released again. That was likely the low point for Diggs in professional football, capping off three tough years after three stellar ones.

In 2021, Diggs' second season with the Cowboys, he led the NFL with 11 interceptions, two of which he returned for touchdowns, resulting in his being named a first team All-Pro. He had three picks apiece in his rookie season of 2020 and his third year in 2022, but since then, he hasn't played a full season. In fact, he's played in 22 games total between 2023 and 2025, something that largely relates to injuries, including a torn ACL.

Now with a fresh start in Seattle, though, the two-time Pro Bowler is excited to contribute on the NFL level again, reports Gregg Bell of The News Tribune. Speaking with reporters, Diggs described Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald's defense as "amazing." “You know, they get to the quarterback," he said. They do all the right things.

So, you know, I’m excited to hopefully be a part of it. I’m looking to show I’m still the best. I’m looking to show that I just want to win.” The ceiling is obviously there, but the question remains as to whether Diggs, the brother of Washington Commanders wide receiver Stefon Diggs, can perform at a high enough level to earn playing time for the defending Super Bowl champions.

Since the combined 17 picks in his first three seasons, he had three total in his next three campaigns, including zero last season. So he might not be the defensive star he'd been in his younger days, but it sounds like he's happy to get a chance to be the third cornerback in Macdonald's system.
