Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy’s family road trip reality show has finally been released, and it’s already turning heads with a conversation between him and one of his daughters. The Great American Road Trip series hit YouTube Wednesday, weeks after it was supposed to be released. It follows Duffy, his wife, Fox News host Rachel Campos-Duffy, and their nine children as they travel across the country.
In one episode, the Duffy family goes to Boston to see the sights and look at colleges for Paloma. Ahead of the trip, Sean asked Paloma while in the kitchen of their family home, “Let’s say you got into Harvard. Would you be pushing us to actually have you go?” “Probably,” Paloma said.
It's the basis of our marriage. It's the basis of our family. So, I'm nervous about the idea of Paloma going to Harvard.” Back in the kitchen, Duffy tells his daughter, “Listen, my problem is, we have thought about how we raised you, and how hard we’ve worked to, I think, raise what is a remarkable young girl.
If I send you there, I think what happens is they have professionalized figuring out how they can take good, young girls like you and, I think, corrupt their minds.” Duffy stressed that Paloma doesn’t have to have the same political opinions as him and he thinks it’s important to be exposed to different viewpoints, but that “I don’t think the Harvards of the world give you that kind of well-rounded picture.” “But I went to an extremely conservative school in high school and I’m part of an extremely conservative family. And that if I go to a liberal setting, that’s a way more rounded education,” Paloma argued. Duffy replied, “You’ll see young people go to a conservative school with a conservative family and they get perverted and contorted.” The comments were turned off on the episode, which was supposed to air back in June.
Duffy told NewsNation earlier this month that the series was delayed to “come into compliance with all of the ethics rules that we have in government.” Ahead of the show’s release, some Senate Democrats shared concerns that the Duffy family road trip was being funded through companies with potential business before federal transportation regulators. Sponsors for the trip included Boeing, United Airlines and Royal Caribbean. While people couldn’t share their views of the episode on YouTube, they were quick to post about it on X.
