Hollie Richardson 9.05pm, Channel 4Richard Ayoade’s stagey (but convincing) disdain for the show he’s agreed to appear on reaches new heights as he threatens to destroy the whole set. Things aren’t much better for the other contenders, with Chloe Petts suffering a day of setbacks.
No wonder Alex just wants to lie quietly in a box for a while. Phil Harrison 9.05pm, Channel 5While a stray pekingese needs a new home and Siegfried (Samuel West) becomes indignant with a car mechanic, a trip out to help a stuck calf looks initially like standard hand-up-a-cow fare. Is it time for the Dales’ inaugural bovine caesarean?
Jack Seale 9.30pm, BBC OneNigel Planer cameos in Lee Mack’s easy-going, long-running family sitcom this week. After seeing a play together, Lee (Mack) and Lucy (Sally Bretton) bump into Nigel in a fancy restaurant. Cue a night of awkward introductions, farcical mix-ups and a few laughs.
HR 10.05pm, Channel 4More from the housing crisis comedy, where a couple split up on their first night in London but are stuck in a six-month contract. After Lil’s (Lara Ricote) excruciating first rebound date, she and Ben (Samuel Bottomley) head back to Leeds for their mates’ baby’s christening – the perfect opportunity for Lil to find the woman with whom Ben cheated on her. HR 11pm, Sky OneThe Office spin-off prints out an efficient double bill to conclude season two.
Editor Ned (Domhnall Gleeson) is still trying to land his haymaker investigative piece, but should he and reporter Mare (Chelsea Frei) prioritise love over journalism? The finale has a nice amount of weakness for open-hearted emotion.
