Voting in Kazakhstan’s elections for deputies of the Kurultai has concluded, with voter turnout standing at 74.19% nationwide, Trend's special correspondent reports from Astana. Polling stations across the country closed at 8:00 p.m. local time. According to the Central Election Commission (CEC), 9,352,151 voters had received ballots by 8:00 p.m., accounting for 74.19% of registered voters.
According to data provided by territorial election commissions of the capital, regions and cities of republican significance, voter turnout as of 8:00 p.m. was: The CEC also reported that, as of 7:00 p.m. Astana time, all 79 polling stations at Kazakhstan’s diplomatic missions abroad had opened in 61 countries. Voting had already concluded in 11 countries by that time.
A total of 11,402 voters are registered at polling stations abroad. By the specified time, 6,007 people had voted. Kazakhstan’s citizens in San Francisco, USA, will be the last to vote, with the polling station there having opened at 7:00 p.m.
The elections to the Kurultai, Kazakhstan’s unicameral parliament envisaged by the new Constitution that entered into force on July 1, 2026, were held today. The Kurultai will consist of 145 deputies elected for a five-year term. The elections are being held under a proportional representation system, with deputies elected from party lists in a single nationwide electoral district.
