The brown bear, described by one supporter as having both the "chonk and the badonk", will shortly enter hibernation, which can last up to six months.
Backpack has won the annual Fat Bear Week competition after prevailing in what the US National Park Service called a "battle of size, skill, snack acquisition and strategic loafing". The chunky champion narrowly beat Bear 910 by 103,344 votes to 98,253 in the final round of the online contest run by Katmai National Park in Alaska.
