There's plenty of blame to go around in Philadelphia

Less than two years ago, the Philadelphia Eagles hoisted the Vince Lombardi Trophy after dethroning the two-time defending champion Kansas City Chiefs in dominating fashion. Philadelphia's 40-22 victory capped off a memorable season that led many to believe that more championships would soon follow. All of that promise has failed to materialize.

The Eagles endured a tumultuous 2025 season that ended with a punchless loss in the NFC wild-card round. Philadelphia is in a total free fall this season; they're 2-5 and -- barring a miracle -- will suffer its first losing season during the Nick Sirianni era. Who's to blame for the Eagles' collapse?

Here's a rundown of the culprits. Don't get it twisted; Roseman is a future Hall of Fame general manager. He's the architect of two world championship rosters and three NFC championship rosters.

He's hired two Super Bowl-winning coaches and built rosters that defeated Tom Brady's Patriots with a backup quarterback and Patrick Mahomes' Chiefs with arguably the best roster since 2000. Roseman deserves a heap of credit when the Eagles win, so it's only right that he's held accountable when they lose, even when circumstances happen that are out of his control. The job of a general manager is to field teams that are capable of overcoming injuries and adversity.

This Eagles team hasn't been able to do that, which is an indictment of the GM who built the roster. Roseman's biggest whiffs have been on offensive personnel moves. They needed a better succession plan for Lane Johnson.

They needed to lessen Saquon Barkley's workload while pairing him with another capable running back. They needed to hire a proven and experienced offensive coordinator. One of the biggest misses, at least so far, was the handling of the receiver position.
