Well, that didn’t take long. People online are inevitably flocking to Amazon to recreate Kelly Clarkson’s bizarre Brooklyn art store saga for Halloween — one that involves a pop star, a mechanical bird and a $15 million

People online, or extremely online Twitter users at least, are flocking to Amazon to recreate Kelly Clarkson’s bizarre Brooklyn art store saga for Halloween — one that involves a pop star, a mechanical bird and a $15 million price tag. The unlikely costume inspiration comes after Clarkson’s viral dispute with Brooklyn novelty shop Art of Play, where the singer claimed she was rudely dismissed while attempting to purchase Molly, a singing and dancing wooden bird automaton.

Clarkson compared the encounter to Julia Roberts’ infamous shopping scene in “Pretty Woman,” alleging that an employee assumed she couldn’t afford the bird’s $15,000 price tag. The store, however, insisted that Molly was never for sale, explaining that the bird was a permanent fixture used in its magic shows. After the disagreement spilled onto social media, co-owner Adam Rubin jokingly raised Molly’s asking price to $15 million.

For those dressing as Clarkson, the assignment is relatively straightforward. Surveillance footage from the store shows the singer wearing a light yellow crewneck, baseball cap and baggy jeans — all easily found on Amazon. Throw in a backpack, a phone for drafting an indignant social media post and perhaps a “Pretty Woman” tee for good measure.

Molly, meanwhile, requires a little more creative license. A yellow-and-gray bird costume, complete with a beak and wings, should do the trick. Bonus points for a cardboard tree branch, a wind-up crank or a homemade price tag reading “$15 MILLION.” The duo makes for a particularly inspired couples costume, although anyone flying solo can simply carry a stuffed bird or perch a toy version on their shoulder.

Add a sign reading “NOT FOR SALE” and even the most chronically offline partygoers should get the gist — or at least ask enough questions to hear the entire story.
