Rin Zamami was found collapsed and bleeding on the staircase outside of her apartment on Wednesday and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 23-year-old woman was stabbed to death in Ginowan, Okinawa Prefecture, earlier this week allegedly by a former boyfriend whom she had reported to authorities over stalking concerns, according to the Okinawa Prefectural Police. Rin Zamami was found collapsed and bleeding heavily on the staircase outside of her apartment in the city at around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The prefectural police found a man in Naha who was injured and carrying a bloodstained knife later that day. The man, who was Zamami’s ex-partner, was taken to the hospital for his injuries, and authorities plan to question him on suspicion of murder once he recovers.
