The Dream came up short to the Valkyries for the 2026 WNBA title, but Angel Reese made her mark during the postseason.

Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream came extremely close to winning their first WNBA title on Saturday night. Instead, the Golden State Valkyries won their first championship with a 68-63 Game 7 win. It was a thrilling seven-game Finals series filled with ups and downs from both teams.

Reese specifically stood out as one of the stars of the series on both sides of the court, even though the Dream fell short in the end. Despite not going home as a WNBA champion quite yet (she'll definitely be back), Reese does get to add another accolade to her ever-growing résumé. She officially broke the WNBA record for the most rebounds posted in a single playoff run with 132, via StatMuse.

She posted 12 rebounds on Saturday night alone. She averaged 10.9 rebounds per contest during the postseason. Reese was battling against Valkyries center Kiah Stokes for the record throughout the Finals.

Stokes ended up with 130 total rebounds after putting up 13 rebounds on Saturday night. She sits second behind Reese in the record standings. Both Reese and Stokes surpassed A'ja Wilson's record of 120 rebounds from last year's Las Vegas Aces' championship run.

They both took a good lead over the five-time MVP's record. Reese has been the rebound queen all year. She already broke the record for the most rebounds in a single season (521) and the record for the most rebounds in a game (26).

It was only fitting for her to be crowned the WNBA playoff rebound queen. These performances helped Reese be named the 2026 WNBA Defensive Player of the Year. She'll surely add WNBA champion to her accomplishments in the coming years.
