What’s another cute sweater for the collection...

When it comes to transitional dressing, you need a throw-on layer...trust us. With changing seasons and temperamental weather, the climate can change on a dime. The way to stay ahead is: layers.

And yes, that sounds obvious, but clothing that you can simply pull on or off depending on the temperature will honestly be such a style savior. We've found a definitive winner in this department: Anthropologie’s oh-so soft cardigan, in heather grey. The style introduces an interesting new silhouette: the “elbow” cardigan, which is, well, exactly as it sounds.

The style features three-quarter-length sleeves which reach to the elbow (hence the name) and a boxy, cropped feel. With dropped shoulders, a waist-length hem, a round neckline, and oversized button closures, this cardigan keeps you cozy while looking seriously chic. The light heather gray has an almost oatmeal-like hue, making it a great lighter neutral if white feels too stark but you’re not quite ready to embrace darker shades.

And if you want more options, it comes in plenty of other colors, too! What I love most is how versatile it is. On milder days, you can throw it over a white tee and wear it as your main layer.

When temperatures really drop, it’s easy to layer it under a jacket or coat for extra warmth. We imagine styling this cardigan with a pair of lightwash jeans and a set of dark loafers, but can also see ourselves throwing it over tailored trousers and a shirt when the office AC gets too fierce. (If you know, you know.) However, this just scratches the surface of the multitude of ways you can style this versatile item: it would also work with a leather midi skirt and some knee-length boots, as well as introducing some light colour contrast to an all-black outfit. And I found tons more cute styles while browsing that are also worth shopping—check them out here: Megan Wallace (they/them) is a writer and editor covering fashion, culture, identity and relationships.
