Houston Astros star Carlos Correa has been working hard to return to the team's lineup after undergoing ankle surgery back in May. However, a new update has been provided on Correa, and it is undoubtedly a bad one. While speaking to reporters, Astros manager Joe Espada announced that Correa will not return to the Astros' lineup this season.
With the Astros fighting to win the American League West and Correa being one of their most important players, this is certainly an unfortunate development. The hope was that Correa would be able to return as he continued to work on his recovery, but now that thought can officially be forgotten. Correa last played for the Astros on May 4 against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
In 32 games this season with the Astros, the 12-year MLB veteran posted three home runs, eight doubles, 16 RBI, and a .279 batting average. Overall, it was a lost year for the three-time All-Star, and it is rough when noting that he had a strong start to the season. It will now be interesting to see how the Astros finish off this regular season with Correa officially being ruled out for the remainder of it.
