Barry Manilow is canceling more shows amid his treatment for lung cancer. On Thursday, Manilow cut his performance at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino short after just 40 minutes on stage, citing “technical difficulties.” Later, the 83-year-old announced that Friday and Saturday nights performances would be canceled as well. Manilow’s representatives did not immediately respond to The Independent’s request for comment.
The pop icon has been performing in Vegas for his “The Hits Come Home!” concert residency since May 2018. The news comes just weeks after he was forced to cancel his show in Lexington, Kentucky, hours before he was due on stage. A specific reason for the postponement was not shared.
The singer revealed his diagnosis with lung cancer in December last year, crediting his doctor with detecting it early during an MRI scan. He underwent surgery to remove a tumor on his left lung, postponing his Las Vegas residency and several planned tour dates to recover. Speaking to People in March, Manilow described the ordeal as “a nightmare,” but said he has also been able to find some positives amid an otherwise difficult time.
