The Chicago Blackhawks have been without superstar center Connor Bedard for all of the 2026-27 season so far due to him having shoulder surgery during the summer. However, it appears that Bedard is gearing up for his return to the NHL Original Six club. According to ESPN's Emily Kaplan, Bedard is likely to return to the Blackhawks' lineup for their Tuesday game against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Hearing that there is a good chance that Bedard will be returning to the Blackhawks' lineup against Pittsburgh is undoubtedly exciting news. He is their best player, and they have missed him tremendously this season with him being sidelined. Their 1-5-0 record to start the season certainly shows this.
Bedard will be looking to make a serious impact once he officially returns to the Blackhawks' lineup. He could very well be the player that helps Chicago turn things around after their brutal start to the campaign. In 69 games last season with the Blackhawks, Bedard recorded 30 goals, 45 assists, and 75 points.
This helped him land his five-year, $75 million contract extension with the Blackhawks back in July. In 219 career NHL games over three seasons with Chicago, Bedard has posted 75 goals and 203 points. He is also in his first season as the Blackhawks' captain.
