Browns’ Todd Monken Sends Jerry Jeudy Message Amid Chiefs Trade Pitch

Todd Monken made his feelings on Jerry Jeudy clear as a CBS Sports trade idea pointed the Browns WR toward Kansas City.

Jerry Jeudy has slipped to third in the pecking order at receiver, yet he keeps making the catches that decide Browns games. Cleveland Browns head coach Todd Monken backed the wide receiver at his news conference following the latest win, according to a team transcript. CBS Sports’ Carter Bahns listed a Jeudy deal with the Kansas City Chiefs among 10 moves he wants to see before the deadline.

Jeudy didn’t catch a pass in Cleveland’s wins in Weeks 2 and 3, drawing one target total. Over his past three outings, he has 10 receptions for 124 yards. On third-and-5 late in the latest win, Jeudy turned a catch into a 33-yard gain, moving Cleveland into range for kicker Andre Szmyt’s decisive kick.

His final line read four catches for 69 yards, the most of any Brown. He also came through late in Week 4, setting up another winning kick from Szmyt. Still, his 150 receiving yards rank fourth on the 4-2 Browns, trailing rookies Denzel Boston and KC Concepcion as well as tight end Harold Fannin Jr.

Asked about the adjustment, Jeudy acknowledged it has tested him. He added that “you can’t let that discourage you, you’ve got to stay focused and wait your turn.” Bahns sees it differently, writing that “the time to move on from him is now” after Jeudy’s best game of the year. Chiefs wide receivers coach Chad O’Shea held that job in Cleveland during Jeudy’s 2024 Pro Bowl season, Bahns noted.

There’s little incentive for the Browns to sell a receiver who keeps setting up wins, and the deadline is three weeks away.
