NFL fans were puzzled when the Arizona Cardinals released the first depth chart for their upcoming Week 1 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers. Jeremiyah Love, who the Cardinals selected with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, is listed as Arizona's No. 2 running back behind Tyler Allgeier. When speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Cardinals head coach Mike LaFleur was asked about this depth chart decision.
"Don't look too far into that," LaFleur replied. With the draft capital the Cardinals spent on Love, it's hard to imagine the team won't get him involved early and often to begin his young NFL career. Love suffered a high-ankle sprain early in preseason action, but he appears to be back on track as the Cardinals gear up for Sunday's Week 1 matchup against the Chargers.
The former Notre Dame running back was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice session. Earlier this week, LaFleur said he "feels good" about Love's chances to take the field this weekend. Sunday's game will kick off at 4:25 p.m.
