Most teams around the NFL are just a few days away from officially kicking off their 2026 regular season slate. However, NFL insider Adam Schefter of ESPN thinks there's still time for some players to be rewarded with some much-deserved contract extensions. In fact, Schefter thinks one to keep an eye on before the start of Week 1 is Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Parker Washington.
"Parker Washington in Jacksonville," Schefter said on "The Pat McAfee Show," "I think there will be some extensions that get done by the time opening games roll around." There's certainly a strong case for the Jaguars to lock up Washington before he becomes even more expensive. The 24-year-old is already coming off a breakout 2025 campaign in which he recorded a career-high 58 catches for 847 yards and five touchdowns. Reports out of training camp point toward the belief that Washington is ready to pick up right where he left off, too, as he has been turning heads all summer.
It remains unclear what kind of payday Washington may be looking for, but Washington recently revealed those talks are still ongoing. The Jags want me to be here.” Washington began his professional career as a sixth-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Since then, he has improved his numbers every year, totaling 106 catches for 1,369 yards and 10 touchdowns during the span.
He played college football at Penn State, where he had 146 catches for 1,920 yards and 12 touchdowns from 2020-22.
