Paul George took the podium on Tuesday for his introductory press conference with the Boston Celtics. George landed with the Celtics in a blockbuster trade with the Philadelphia 76ers earlier this offseason — a trade that sent long-time Boston star Jaylen Brown to the Eastern Conference rival. George, 36, is entering his 17th NBA season.

And as he takes the court alongside Celtics franchise centerpiece Jayson Tatum, he fully understands his role. "We have a superstar, and that's JT. I'm not here to necessarily steal the shine or try to reinvent who I am," George replied when asked if he still views himself as an NBA superstar.

"I've played alongside another superstar wing and we coexisted beautifully." George appeared in 37 games for the 76ers last season, averaging 17.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game. Now, he's expected to slot into a similar veteran support role with the Celtics. The Celtics will open up their 2026-27 NBA regular-season schedule with a matchup against the Detroit Pistons on Oct. 20.
