The Los Angeles Chargers ruled out significant players for Sunday's AFC West game against the Denver Broncos.

The Los Angeles Chargers will seek their first win of the 2026 season without some key contributors. Los Angeles ruled out seven players for Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos. Friday's injury report includes some big hits to their roster before the AFC West clash.

Wide receiver Quentin Johnston, offensive tackle Joe Alt, and safety Derwin James will all sit out the Week 5 contest. The Chargers also won't have guard Kayode Awosika, cornerback Donte Jackson, guard Trevor Penning, and wide receiver Brenen Thompson. Quarterback Trey Lance is doubtful, and wide receiver Ladd McConkey is also among five players questionable for Sunday.

If McConkey doesn't play, Tre' Harris will be their only active wide receiver with more than one catch this season. Johnston has yet to find the end zone after scoring eight touchdowns in each of the last two seasons. The former first-round pick has seven catches for 108 in a quiet start to the 2026 campaign, and he was a limited practice participant all week due to a chest issue.

Meanwhile, Alt hasn't practiced this week after leaving Week 4's loss to the Seattle Seahawks early with a neck injury. Justin Herbert won't be protected by his Pro Bowl tackle, who missed 11 games last season due to ankle injuries. The Chargers will miss multiple offensive linemen, as they placed Rashawn Slater on the injured reserve Friday after he underwent ankle surgery.

Awosika, their starting left guard, will miss his third straight game with a fibula injury, and backup guard Penning is out with a concussion. Their defense also took a major blow. A hamstring injury will sideline James for the second straight week after the five-time Pro Bowl safety opened the season with 21 tackles in three games.
