Los Angeles Chargers center Tyler Biadasz has been ruled out of the entire 2026 season. Biadasz, who signed with the Chargers as a free agent in March, reportedly suffered damage to his ACL along with other injuries in his left knee during the Chargers' joint practice with the San Francisco 49ers on Tuesday. He was carted off the field by medical staff after 49ers defensive tackle Sebastian Valdez fell on Biadasz's leg during an 11-on-11 drill.
Biadasz later underwent an MRI before ultimately being ruled out for the season. Biadasz was the biggest addition to the Chargers' interior offensive line this offseason. Losing him for the season is a major loss to an offensive line that suffered several season-ending injuries last season.
Ahead of the 2025 season, tackles Rashawn Slater and Joe Alt were one of the strongest offensive lineman duos in the NFL. But then, Slater suffered a season-ending ruptured patellar tendon in training camp. Then Alt suffered an ankle injury in Week 4, returned in Week 9 and further injured the ankle against the Vikings, ending his season.
With Biadasz out for the season, coach Jim Harbaugh told reporters Jake Slaughter would step in as starting center. "Jake Slaughter is now our starting center, so that's a big change," Harbaugh said. "The center position, right guard, right tackle, left tackle … those four [are set].
"Whether we have nine offensive linemen, 10, 11, on the final roster, they're all in the mix for roles," Harbaugh continued. "Starting roles and backup role." The Chargers have one more preseason game against the Los Angeles Rams on Aug. 27 before kicking off the regular season against the Arizona Cardinals on Sept. 13.
