The Kansas City Chiefs opened up their 2026 season with a dominant 31-10 victory over the visiting Denver Broncos on Monday night. In the first game of his 14th season with the Chiefs, all-time great tight end Travis Kelce led the team in receiving with three catches for 71 yards. With a 59-yard catch-and-run reception in the third quarter, the 36-year-old veteran claimed the No. 2 spot on the NFL's all-time tight end receiving yards list — trailing only Hall of Fame TE Tony Gonzalez.
Andy Reid reacted to Kelce's vintage performance with a strong statement postgame. Pretty good for an old man that people look crosseyed at,” Reid said, via ProFootballTalk. Kelce considered retirement this past offseason, but ultimately re-signed with the Chiefs for at least one more NFL season.
The superstar tight end, who will turn 37 years old early next month, now has 13,073 receiving yards for his career. Kelce and the Chiefs will look to maintain their positive momentum into this coming Sunday's Week 2 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts.
