Colorado finally put names to the players Deion Sanders sent away, and one of them spent last season on Indiana's championship roster. A Colorado Buffaloes spokesperson confirmed to The Athletic on Oct. 3 that cornerbacks Jah Jah Boyd, Justin Eaglin, and Paul Omodia are the trio Sanders removed, before facing No. 12 Texas Tech. Sanders first disclosed the dismissals on Sept. 22, after a 41-7 beating at Northwestern in Week 3, but kept the names to himself, even on his coach's show the following day.
"People made a big deal out of last week, about us, you know, getting rid of a few kids," Sanders said on that show. "But it wasn't a team thing. It was just a few knuckleheads.
Every occupation we have, it's a few knuckleheads, right?" After falling 23-13 at Baylor, Sanders faced another question about the names. His reply: "What other clarity do you need? Who wasn't here today?" He added that he had cut players before during his four seasons in Boulder.
"I'm going to pay you to act a fool? That's not where I come from," Sanders said. He played in four games for Indiana's 2025 national title team, then recorded 13 tackles and a forced fumble across his first three outings in Boulder.
Eight of those tackles came in the 52-21 rout of Weber State in Week 2. Sanders praised his edge afterward: "Sometimes he goes a little too far at times. But you can count on him to give everything he has." Boyd logged 61 snaps this season, Eaglin nine, and Omodia three.
Eaglin started 14 of his 26 games across four seasons at James Madison and suited up twice for the Buffs. Omodia made 13 starts at Lamar and topped the Southland Conference with 14 forced incompletions. Colorado meets No. 12 Texas Tech, riding consecutive losses to Northwestern and Baylor, with three fewer cornerbacks than it started the season with.
