The Indianapolis Colts are bolstering their defense following the team's 34-22 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 5 by reuniting with a very familiar face. According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, the Colts are signing veteran linebacker Germaine Pratt to their practice squad with the intent he'll eventually be on the active roster. Pratt, 30, spent most of the 2025 season with the Colts, racking up an impressive 126 tackles, one forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, 10 passes defensed and one interception in 16 games.
Indianapolis signed Pratt just two days after he had been released by the Las Vegas Raiders last October, so it seems fitting he has now reunited with the team almost exactly one year later. He joins a room that includes Jaylon Carlies, Akeem Davis-Gaither, Bryce Boettcher, Tahj Chambers and CJ Allen. Pratt began his professional career as a third-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals.
He spent the first six years of his NFL career in Cincinnati before requesting to be traded by the team in February 2025. The Bengals were not able to find a trade partner, but they did grant Pratt a release, and he joined the Raiders on a one-year, $4.25 million contract the next summer. A NC State product, Pratt has recorded 742 tackles, 3.5 sacks, eight forced fumbles, seven fumble recoveries, 33 passes defensed and eight interceptions in his career.
