Cowboys Running Back Carted Off Practice Field on Friday

Dallas Cowboys undrafted rookie running back Malik Davis was carted off the practice field after suffering an injury on Friday.

Dallas Cowboys rookie running back Malik Davis impressed throughout training camp and preseason, landing the No. 2 spot behind Javonte Williams on the team's depth chart ahead of the 2026 season. Unfortunately for the undrafted rookie, it appears his Week 1 status and beyond could be in jeopardy. Davis was carted off the field at practice on Friday, according to multiple reporters on the scene.

The severity of the injury is currently uncertain, but the use of the cart is not a good sign. "Cowboys RB Malik Davis was carted off the practice field with an injury, per source. The Cowboys are looking into severity of it," team insider Clarence Hill Jr. reported.

"Doesn’t look good for Sunday at the moment Hopefully it’s not too serious. Davis was finally getting his opportunity." This injury occurred just days before Davis was scheduled to make his career debut in a Week 1 "Sunday Night Football" matchup against the New York Giants. If the rookie is unable to play, Emari Demercado will likely slot into the No. 2 running back spot behind Williams.

Sunday's game will kickoff at 8:20 p.m.
